What do you hope to get out of this class?

I hope to learn the many uses of the adobe suite.  I have so much respect for people who can edit well and would love to learn more skills.   I applied for an internship in the public health department communications position which deals with communicating scientific knowledge through visual (in most cases) digital visual means.  This class will definitely help with this and I hope to carry these skills in my future career path.

Can you sit still for an hour? I can sit still for about 1.5 hours

What is your relationship to visual studies?
I am a freshman who just took the intro to visual studies course with Dr. Modigliani and I am starting to understand the complexity of it and how artists can really take the major in many different avenues.  I like that it encompasses a very wide scope of disciplines.

What is the relationship between computers and visual studies?  a big part of visual studies is communicating to an audience or onlooker about something bigger than oneself. Sure, handmade art achieves this, but digitally created art enhances this and is the perfect example of evolving times. It makes information and visually easier to spread and goes with a digital aesthetic that is emerging today.

What is your experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere?
I used illustrator when I completed in a fashion design team at my High school.  However, that was just me scanning my hand-drawn drawings and tracing them on a monitor with illustrator using the tracing and shading tools.
The other tools I am not very familiar with.

Have you ever created a 3D printed object?
No

Do you have a computer at home? If so does it have Photoshop and Illustrator? Mac or PC?
I do. And it has photoshop and illustrator (adobe apps from temple)  it is a PC believe.

Write a five line story.
This break I visited my roommate in DC.  It was very cold and windy.  We decided to rent scooters.  We rode all around the surrounding neighborhood of the Georgetown area and by the water. It was beautiful until our scooters ran out of battery and we had to stop.

Project 1 Brainstorming Blog Post

Part 1 Due On 1/30 Project 1 Brainstorming Blog Post: Look at student work and artists listed below, choose at least one to respond to. Use these examples as inspiration for this assignment. Written brainstorm responding to the questions outlined below. Your sketch/map should be posted to your blog before class with clear written explanations if visuals are unclear. Bring preliminary images to start working with (these may not end up being your final images so don't spend a lot of time processing them before brainstorming discussions). Who are you and how does your artistic practice reflect that identity?  still learning who I am - I think my identity is hard to define because I think strongly associate identity with career goals and aspirations.  I think this has been ingrained heavily growing up with emphasis on school.  I think my artistic practice tends to strive for balance and minimalist, yet my brain can get very jumbled and chaotic.  ...

project 4 social distancing

Beginning - stark clean mood news overcrowding - shift after theme of transporting into the digital world like never before - reality meshes with online - but have some comedic relief https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1BuvIiYwPkI2j7xGXSsl9Hjj7P7Kn0k993Qznjfembgc/edit?usp=sharing

1) Composing movement: The points made about how to convey emotion were very interesting and pointed out ideas that I never considered when watching films.  The point about how to make emotions more intense depending on the amount of people involved in the movement at once.  The speaker used different directors of special effects to showcase how films (that are considered eyecatching) involve many moving parts in the background.  2) Editing time and space: Animation requires fewer frames in order to get a message across.  Also, I think the way Kon did cuts between scenes or to show a dream was extremely creative and requires a lot of vision.  The video mentioned he would sketch out scenes having the next one in mind.  I think being able to see these connections is really amazing, however, I wonder if Kon ever sees these connections between images for cuts between scenes, but others do not see it or understand it.  Does he include it anyway and hope...
