  1. This being our first online project, how did our new format change your experience of working in this class?
    1. The format and experience during online class was not drastically different that our previous classes, however, the only thing was not being able to be physically sitting next to classmates and work in that atmosphere.  Getting assistance and sharing ideas was not difficult and was pretty seamless.
  2. How did you challenge yourself creatively, conceptually and/or technically in the making of this piece?
    1. I challenged myself technically with this piece by attending a curved object. Since tinkercad did not already have a lightbulb shape builder I had to create the shape myself by combining different shapes available.  I think I challenged myself conceptually too as I chose the one non-tangible thing on my COVID-19 list which was optimism.  I like that my project evolved as I was creating it because it started out with the message of "stay optimistic, look on the bright side" however, I think a more important message now is the real effects everyone, especially college students, may be experiencing in terms of mental health.  That is why I decided to make the lightbulb color back to symbolize this message as I feel it is important to stay optimistic but it is a very dark time for many and brings awareness to the social and individual mental health affects many people may be experiencing.
  3. Were there elements that made the completion of this piece either more difficult or felt not challenging enough?
    1. I think the object I chose made this piece more difficult because I had to utilize different shapes, aligning them was difficult in tinkcad.  Additionally, the use of the scribble tool was very beneficial to my project.  I noticed other students used illustrator, and I like the idea of that but did not see a need to do so for my project, however, to integrate to applications and make this assignment more challenging, maybe requiring an import from another application would make this more challenging.
  4. Reflect on the project critique: was the feedback you received helpful? Be specific about why or why not.
    1. I feel as though I did not get too more criticism, however, I do think it was helpful to reassure me of some of the design choices I made, for example making the light bulb black instead of a typical color.
  5. Was there anything that your professor could have done to better support you thought this project?
    1. No, I think my professor supported me thoroughly.
  6. Please share any other thoughts.
    1. It is really cool we learn so many different skills in this class.  I did not even know we had 3D printers in Tyler and I hope to actually use these resources when I am back in the Fall semester!

Collecting the Internet

Set up collecting parameters for your digital collection (do a search or two to see if it's plausible): What will you? (be as specific as possible, ie. swimming pools in Philadelphia) - hair accessories - neutral / fits a minimalist aesthetic - worn in hair - can be patterned - examples of hair accessories I own or wear - 10-20 examples How many? (example 10… less is more because you will be processing each image you collect!) Where to source ( online - google maps, instagram)?

Personal logo

In this in-class exercise, you will be making a personal logo using a nickname as a starting point. This can relate to your identity, or this simply can reflect your nickname. 1. Do a few searches on your favorite brands, notice what stands out to you about their logo/brand identity.  Make a list of what visual elements you are drawn to. coco chanel  uber - black and white colors  2. Do some general searches on common logos. Make a list of what elements stand out to you (positively or negatively) simple but distinct  too many colors can look tacky and distracting  I like the cartoon cut outs like this: 3. Make a list of all the nicknames you have had in your life choose one or two to make a personal logo. Project 2: Vinyl Intervention and Reflection Questions

In what way did you change your process to make a piece that was site-specific? I changed the shape and overall aesthetic of the mask.  Originally, I wanted to feature an Asian person's face wearing the mask, however, I did not want to be so literal and wanted viewers on the subway to use the symbol to get the message.  Additionally, when I tried making a face it did not turn out the way I was planned.  I felt the emotion part was hard to capture. I changed the shape from a fashionable Asian mask shape to a more medical-surgical mask shape in order to be read by a wider audience.  How did you challenge yourself creatively, conceptually and/or technically  in the making of this piece? If you did not feel challenged is there something you would do differently if you were to do it again? I challenged myself conceptually, I feel.  Because I constantly had to be reevaluating whether my message was getting across and how people would interpret it sin...
